In more than 50 years history of International Ergonomics Association, the United Nations of the world ergonomics community, Eric Min-yang Wang has been the first Vice President and Secretary General and the second IEA Fellow from Taiwan. He is a Professor and the Convener for Human Factors and Ergonomics Program at the Department of Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management, National Tsing Hua University. Eric Min-yang Wang received his B.S. degree in Industrial Management at National Cheng Kung University, Tainan, Taiwan in 1975 and his M. E. degree in Industrial Engineering at Texas A&M University, Texas, U.S.A. in 1983. In 1992, he received the Ph.D. degree in Industrial Ergonomics at Luleå University, Sweden. He was the Director of the Construction and Maintenance Services and the Dean of the General Affairs for NTHU from 1998 to 2002. He is the Vice President and Secretary General of IEA since August of 2009. He served in the Ergonomics Society of Taiwan since its foundation in 1993 as Council Member, Executive Council Member, and the President. Currently, he is the Chairman of the International Relationship Committee for the EST. He has been an Executive Council Member of Pan-Pacific Council On Ergonomics (was called Pan-Pacific Council on Occupational Ergonomics before 2008) since 1997 and is the Secretary General for PPCOE. He is a member of editorial board for the Human Factors and Ergonomics in Manufacturing and Service Industries, International Journal of Electronic Business Management, Asian Journal of Ergonomics, Journal of Occupational Safety and Health, and an associate editor for Journal of Aeronautics, Astronautics and Aviation. He was the General Co-Chair of the 4th Pan Pacific Conference on Occupational Ergonomics (1996) and the General Chair of the 7th Asia-Pacific Conference on Computer-Human Interaction (2006) held in Taipei, Taiwan. He served as the Vice-Chair of the First East Asian Ergonomics Federation Symposium (EAEFS) held in Kitakyushu, Japan (2008) and as the Deputy Chair of the National Organizing Committee for the 17th World Congress on Ergonomics (IEA 2009) held in Beijing, in August of 2009. He organized the PPCOE 2010 Conference that was held in Kaohsiung in November of 2010. In October 5 of 2011, he organized the first Asia Ergonomics Summit and hosted the Second EAEFS in Hsinchu and are both very successful. Eric Min-yang Wang’s current research interests include human factors/ergonomics, human-computer interaction, system usability, web-based consumer behaviors, aviation ergonomics, ergonomics in healthcare system, and anthropometry.
